Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained fame after releasing her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number in 1994. The album, launched when she was only 15 years of age was certified Gold. R. Kelly was a significant influence in this project which brought her into the spotlight. The year 1996 saw her release her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the number one hit single If Your girl only had known. Aaliyah gained international fame for her R&B songs on the release of this album. The year 2000 saw her co-starred with the famous martial arts star Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver spotted her in an awards show. Queen of the Damned was her first role in 2002. Born in Connecticut to a family of Indian origin. The stage name Mann is a short form of her married name Mankad. Aarti has both Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn as her professional names. While her initial career was dominated by minor films and television performances, she rose to greater recognition in the latter half of 2000s. Her other noteworthy works include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. Her commercials have featured big brands, like Volvo. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
